As the School of Design begins the 2026-2027 academic year, Florida State University is pleased to announce a number of leadership appointments that reflect the School’s continued commitment to excellence in teaching, research, creative practice, and student success. These faculty leaders bring a wealth of experience, scholarly achievement, and professional expertise that will help guide the School of Design through this exciting new chapter.
Amy Huber
Chair
Amy Huber, Ph.D. NCIDQ, ASID, LEED AP, EDAC, CDT, IDEC, will begin serving as Chair of the School of Design at Florida State University in August. An accomplished educator, researcher, and design leader, she brings a distinctive blend of academic depth and professional experience to the role. Member of ASID since 2018 and is serving as the chair of the research development committee. She has served as Associate Chair for the past three and a half years, contributing to program development, faculty collaboration, and strategic initiatives. Huber holds a PhD in Communication from Florida State University’s School of Communication, a Master’s degree in Design and Merchandising from Colorado State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture and Product Design from Kansas State University.
A longtime member of FSU’s faculty, Huber is known for scholarship that sits at the intersection of design, communication, and care, particularly in healthcare environments and professional practice. She has authored more than 25 peer-reviewed articles and wrote Telling the Design Story, a book that explores how meaning, intention, and impact are communicated through design. Her experience as a titled Associate and Senior Designer with Gensler continues to shape her perspective, keeping her work rooted in the realities of practice and the people design ultimately serves.
As Chair, Huber is committed to cultivating a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and shared purpose; one that invites interdisciplinary thinking, expands research in meaningful ways, and fosters a learning environment where students and faculty are both supported and empowered to grow.
Amy O’Keefe
Associate Chair
Amy O’Keefe will begin serving as Associate Chair of the School of Design in Fall 2026. She has served as Undergraduate Advisor in the Major for the past eight years supporting student development, guidance and mentorship. O’Keefe brings ten years of experience in teaching having served as an adjunct professor prior to her full-time position as a Specialized Faculty member. O’Keefe holds a Master’s degree in Interior Design from Florida State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Florida State University.
A committed educator and design professional, her work centers on advancing design education through collaborative practice among faculty and outside practitioners, bringing emerging trends in the field to the classroom. She is a Registered Interior Designer in the state of Florida and maintains a CAPS, Certified Aging in Place Specialist certification.
O’Keefe has played a key role in strengthening the School of Design’s academic programs, contributing to course innovation, accreditation efforts, and interdisciplinary initiatives. Her professional background includes fifteen years of experience in interior design practice, which informs her approach to teaching and her commitment to preparing students for the realities of the profession. Utilizing her continuing education in both designations, O’Keefe continues to bring real world understanding to her students. She has served the ASID Florida North chapter as a liaison to the Tallahassee area along with her service to the Board as Professional Development Director.
She is known for her collaborative leadership style, dedication to academic excellence, and passion for cultivating the next generation of design professionals. As Associate Chair, O’Keefe will support the School’s strategic direction, help guide faculty development, and continue to foster a comprehensive student-centered learning environment.
Daejin Kim
Director of Graduate Studies
Daejin Kim, Ph.D. , will begin serving as Director of Graduate Studies for the School of Design. A dedicated scholar and educator, Kim brings deep expertise in design research, advanced methodologies, and interdisciplinary inquiry to the role. He holds a PhD in Design, Construction, and Planning with a concentration in interior design from the University of Florida. His research examines the influence of the built environment on human health and well-being, with particular emphasis on healthcare design and aging in place.
Kim has played an instrumental role in the growth and refinement of FSU’s graduate programs, contributing to curriculum development, mentoring emerging scholars, and fostering a culture of rigorous, research-driven design inquiry. His work bridges theory and practice, preparing students to engage critically and creatively with the complex design challenges of our time.
As Director of Graduate Studies, Kim will lead the strategic development and continuous improvement of the graduate curriculum, expand research initiatives, and advance faculty and student scholarship. His appointment reflects the School of Design’s enduring commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and the advancement of design knowledge. Kim is dedicated to cultivating an inclusive, collaborative academic environment that empowers graduate students to thrive as designers, researchers, and future leaders in the field.
Kelley Robinson
Director of the Undergraduate Interior Design Program
Kelley Robinson, RID, ASID, IDEC, LEED Green Associate, will begin serving as Director of the Undergraduate Interior Design Program. A dedicated educator and accomplished designer, Robinson holds a Master of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Architecture from Auburn University. She maintains professional interior design registrations in both Florida and Georgia and is the founder of Workshop 131, Inc. in Tallahassee. She is the current Florida representative for the Southeast Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians and served as president of the ASID Florida North Chapter from 2019-2020. Her professional work has been recognized with multiple design awards, reflecting her creative vision, technical expertise, and commitment to high quality, human-centered design.
Robinson’s research agenda advances two interrelated lines of inquiry that contribute to the field of interior design. The first utilizes cross-disciplinary methods from areas such as vernacular architecture, history, and geography to examine the temporal and spatial evolution of the domestic space. The second line employs a mixed-methods approach that responds to real-world challenges facing interior design practitioners.
Robinson brings a steadfast commitment to excellence in teaching, student mentorship, and the advancement of interior design practice. She has played a key role in strengthening the undergraduate program through curriculum development, accreditation efforts, and the integration of emerging design methodologies. Over the last few years, she has elevated the department’s career fair, expanding opportunities for students to connect with industry leaders and gain meaningful professional experiences. As director, Robinson will guide the undergraduate interior design program’s long-term trajectory, support faculty and student success, and promote a dynamic, future-oriented environment that enables graduates to shape the evolving design profession.
Terry Londy
Director of the Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Design Program
Terry Londy, AIGA, SEGD, IDEC, LEED Green Associate will begin serving as Director of the Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Design Program. A dedicated educator and design professional, Londy brings a strong commitment to innovative teaching, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and hands-on student-centered learning.
Londy has been instrumental in shaping interdisciplinary design education at FSU, leading curriculum development, program coordination, and the integration of diverse design perspectives. His professional experience in design practice enriches his teaching and helps prepare students for the multifaceted nature of contemporary design work.
As Director, Londy will guide the program’s continued growth, strengthen interdisciplinary partnerships, and support an inclusive, forward-thinking environment that empowers students to explore the full breadth of design.
Terry’s research agenda is application- and practice-based, with a focus on portfolio design, practitioner-defined behaviors of high-performing designers, and the transferable skills and fundamentals that support hiring and early career success. The second area of focus connects Londy’s professional history and ongoing design practice to experiential graphic design (EGD), branding, and brand strategy, with an emphasis on wayfinding and signage systems, sports design, and stadium environments, and the relationship between fan experience and team identity.
Terry’s approach to teaching centers on preparing students for professional practice through immersive, hands-on learning. He elevates coursework through site visits, experiential instruction, and physical samples and prototyping to strengthen technical knowledge and detailing. He founded and facilitates the IDDEAS Lab, integrating digital fabrication with woodshop craft to support prototyping and finished work, while expanding the annual design charrette through external reviewers, innovative topics, and student exhibitions. His integration of professional expertise in experiential graphic design and brand strategy strengthens students’ ability to navigate interdisciplinary connections within the interior design field.
Luis Castañeda
Director of Interdisciplinary Graphic Design Certificate
Luis Castañeda will begin serving as Director of the Interdisciplinary Graphic Design Certificate. A designer and educator, Castañeda brings a strong commitment to creative exploration, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and emerging technologies.
Castañeda has contributed significantly to the growth of graphic design and visual communication at FSU, helping shape curriculum, mentor students, and connect design with broader cultural and technological contexts. His professional experience spans multiple areas of visual communication and includes extensive international work, bringing a global perspective and real-world insight to his teaching.
As Director, Castañeda will guide the certificate program’s continued development, strengthen interdisciplinary partnerships, and support a dynamic environment that prepares students for contemporary design practice. This work also informs and overlaps with his role in developing the forthcoming undergraduate Interdisciplinary Design Degree, creating connections between the two programs and a broader interdisciplinary approach to design education.
